Sharing food is panhandling, and its also just one of the ridiculous laws here in Columbia SC, enforced by the narcissistic lawmakers & authority figures. Homeless ppl go to jail for “harassing” the rich if u ask for food as they shop in expensive stores for $200 pantiehose and $500 doghouses. There’s a park for ritzy, professionally groomed muts but homeless ppl are ran out of the parks and forbidden to sit, relax, read, sunbath, sleep, swing or interact with the ritzy muts & owners. There were very few helping hands for women but men had places to eat, sleep, receive clothing and shower. The first “women & children” facility just opened the doors to a brand new shelter, just for women/child, a week ago. The city literally removed ALL benches from downtown so NO ONE can sit down. The bus stops, capital bldg is all you’ll find. Venturing downtown brings a familiar feeling deep within. The same morbid, rancid, hellish feeling when I watch documentaries on Hitler during the holocaust.  This must change. $ & ritzy muts should NEVER come before ANY child=human on this planet. Love is stronger than fear and hate. This war is spiritual, not of flesh.(Ephesians 6 KJV)  Narcissists are soulless zombie meat suits with no compassion, empathy, tolerance for others. The dark systems are collapsing, as prophecies are now being fulfilled. There are angels among you, according to Hebrews 13:1-2. The Bible says sheeple narcs wont know who angels really are. But its a divine timeline we are experiencing. The poor will balance with the rich. The weaker species, negative, dark, heartless is having the most prob because they’re loosing their flocks & $. Consciousness, knowledge of spirit is power. Flesh and material greed is no longer the focus of higher conscious beings. Where your treasures are, your heart is also. (no heart=no awakening=EXTINCTION! ) Focus on your purpose, identity known by the Universal Creator of all things. We are NOT of this world, and hated (John 17: NOTW) , seek peace..we are NOT alone. Help is here..we rise!

Now in its second season, the 30-minute TBS show “People of Earth” has proved that it’s more than a quirky comedy built on an absurd premise: a reporter investigating a support group for alien abductees (though they prefer the term “experiencers”). While every episode is jam-packed with jokes, double entendres and physical foibles, there’s also a surprising amount of complex character development, heart and humanity in the portrayal of both the “StarCrossed” alien experiencers and the aliens themselves.

The most charming part about the aliens in “People of Earth” is how human they are. Ken Hall, an actor and comedian who plays the sometimes brusque, sometimes bashful, but always lovable gray alien named “Jeff,” talked to about the latest season of the show and why “People of Earth” has developed such a quick cult following.

Be warned: This interview contains spoilers for the first few episodes of “People of Earth” Season 2. [‘People of Earth’: A Comedy of Alien Proportions (Photos)]

Credit: TBS When you first signed on to do “People of Earth,” did you think it would be a goofy comedy about aliens and abductees? Or did it already seem deeper than that?

Ken Hall: I got a pretty good indication right away because of the script that we used for the audition. As soon as I started reading it, it was just really smart, and funny and kind of quirky as well, because it’s this alien, but he’s just working this job, just like a regular human would be.

Greg Daniels, who is one of the executive producers of the show, was actually at the callback, and [as I was] talking with him about the vision for the show, he enforced very early on that these are real people — that even the aliens, we don’t want them to be too alien-y or this creepy stereotypical kind of thing. More like we want them to feel like real people, to talk like real people and to have real people feelings. And that’s a really cool concept and, I think, part of what makes the show so unique and gives it so much heart. Because even though we’re aliens, we’re still very relatable, and we’re all just trying to find the connection — not just on the ship, but in the galaxy, in the universe — and have an understanding of how we fit into the world. As an actor, when you think about Jeff, do you even think of him as an alien, or do you just imagine him as this guy in a workplace who’s trying to get through the day?

Hall: Great question. Jeff is still very much an alien, and you feel very alien-like in the prosthetic [head] because it muffles your hearing. It’s sometimes harder to breathe, [and] your eyesight is foggy with the tinted eyes, so you automatically see the world and experience it in a sort of alien way. It’s funny at the end of the night when I take the prosthetic off, because my hearing just comes rushing back to me, and fresh air hits my face. And it honestly feels like I’ve just been reborn — and I’m like, “Oh yeah, this is what it feels like to be a human!” So, the performance is very impacted by the prosthetic, and yet, at the same time, I’m cognizant that I don’t want to play up so much that he’s an alien. I want him to be a very down-to-Earth … uh … person? He’s got the same range of feelings as everyone else. [Strange Cinema:’s Favorite Off-Beat Space Movies]

Credit: TBS Speaking of the prosthetic, how does the internal part of the head work to project your facial expressions? How much of it is CGI [computer-generated imagery], and how much of it is you controlling it?

Hall: It’s actually me. The only CGI thing that happens in terms of the prosthetic is the blinks; as far as I know, that’s the only thing they put in, in post [production]. The costume is broken into three parts. It’s sort of like a giant helmet hat thing that I pull over my head, and then my face is exposed. But then there’s one major part that gets glued on top, and they glue on my nose — and then there’s a chin that they glue on as well. So, my entire face is covered — my entire head is covered, actually — but it’s just a really excellent design. The prosthetic really allows for the expressions to come in. It was kind of a question mark coming in — how expressive the prosthetic would really be — but I’m glad it’s something that allows me to emote and show expressions.

VATICAN CITY — God wants people to live with hope and joy — not bitterness — and to dream with him of a better world, Pope Francis said.

“Please, make sure we do not pay attention to disappointed and unhappy people; let us not listen to those who cynically plead not to cultivate hope in life,” he said Aug. 30 during his weekly general audience.

People must ignore those who try to crush enthusiasm and smother “youthful euphoria,” he said. Instead, Christians must cultivate a “healthy utopia” based on what God wants for the world.

“God wants us to be able to dream like he does and, with him as we journey, to be quite attentive to reality — dreaming of a different world,” he said.

Continuing his series of audience talks on Christian hope, the pope reflected on a reading from the Gospel of St. John (1:35-43), which describes how the first disciples heard of Jesus and wished to follow him.

Jesus asked the first two men, “What are you looking for?” because he sensed a healthy restlessness in their young hearts, Pope Francis said.

In fact, the pope said, young people who are not seeking something or looking for meaning in life “are not young, they have gone into retirement, they have aged before their time. It’s sad to see young people in retirement.”

Throughout the Gospels, he said, Jesus responds to the people he meets along the way; he is like an “arsonist,” the pope said, setting people’s hearts ablaze.

The intense joy Jesus ignites in those he encounters is the wellspring of every vocation, the pope said, whether it be marriage, consecrated life or the priesthood.

In that first encounter, Jesus “gives us new joy and hope and leads us — even through trials and difficulties — to an ever-fuller encounter with him and fullness of joy.”

Jesus doesn’t want people who walk reluctantly behind him, the pope said. “Jesus wants people who have experienced that being with him gives immense joy that can be renewed each day in life.”

Any disciple who does not carry joy in his or her heart “does not evangelize in this world.”

People do not become preachers of God’s word by “sharpening the weapons of rhetoric,” the pope said. “You can talk and talk and talk,” but it will not make a difference if that bright light of joy is missing from one’s eyes.

At the end of the general audience, the pope met with three soccer players, who survived a devastating airplane crash in 2016 that killed all of their teammates.

The charter flight for the Brazil’s Chapecoense soccer team was headed from Bolivia to Colombia for the 2016 South American Cup finals. The crash, caused by an exhausted fuel supply, killed 71 of the 77 passengers, which included players, coaching staff, journalists and guests. Only three players and three others survived.

The pope blessed the surviving players, and he greeted and hugged family members of the deceased and the team’s current players. David Plinio de Nes, team president, told Vatican Radio that “Pope Francis has let us feel his love since the tragic moment of the plane accident” and has given them the strength to go on.

Hoover Dam

Visitor Information – Security – Traffic Information

With the official opening of the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge (Mike O’Callaghan – Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge) in October 2010, vehicles travelling on U.S. Highway 93 no longer cross Hoover Dam. Visitors to the dam must now exit US 93 at Nevada State Route 172 to reach the dam. Additionally, State Route 172 is not open to through-traffic, as the roadway on the Arizona side of the site has been closed. Vehicles can still cross the dam to visit the Arizona viewpoints and concessions, but all are required to turn around and re-enter Nevada to access Highway 93.

Visitors can park in designated lots and walk across the dam for better viewing and photographic opportunities, during daylight hours only. At no time will any vehicles be allowed to stop on top of the dam. Pedestrians are prohibited from the top of the dam during hours of darkness.

Overview of Hoover Dam

Originally called Boulder Dam, this engineering marvel was renamed for Herbert Hoover, the 31st president of the United States. As a conservationist, he was a strong proponent of preserving our natural resources and protecting the nation’s lands from misuse, and from destruction by disastrous floods. As an engineer, he strongly supported construction of a high concrete dam on the Colorado River to control the river, and to provide irrigation water to the rich farmlands nearby, and a dependable supply of water for Southern California communities.

President Hoover advocated that the Boulder Canyon Project be self-supporting, financed entirely through the sale of hydroelectric power generated at the dam. He was personally involved in the pre-construction discussions concerning the location, feasibility and safety of the dam — a dam of unprecedented height and weight and the key to control and regulation of the Colorado River.

There are hotels and motels in Boulder City,HendersonLaughlinBullhead City and Las Vegas. See map to right for locations of cities. Click on the name of the city above for rates, availability and reservation online.

The Hoover Dam Visitor Center is open, and you are encouraged to visit the facility. The new Discovery Tour is a self-paced tour which provides live presentations at six different locations at the top of the dam. For more information about the new Discovery Tour click here.

Hoover Dam

Video on Lake Mead and Hoover Dam

Construction of Hoover Dam began in 1931, and the last concrete was poured in 1935, two years ahead of schedule. President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated the dam on September 30, 1935. The power plant structures were completed in 1936, and the first generator began commercial operation in October of that year. The 17th and final generator went into commercial operation in 1961.

Hoover Dam was without precedent; it was the greatest dam constructed in its day. An arch-gravity structure rising 726 feet above bedrock, Hoover is still the Western Hemisphere’s highest concrete dam. It is 660 feet thick at its base, 45 feet thick at its crest, and stretches 1,244 feet across Black Canyon. There are 4.4 million cubic yards of concrete in the dam, power plant and related structures.

Hoover Dam pioneered the Bureau of Reclamation’s efforts in multiple-purpose water resources development. The dam controls floods while it stores water for irrigation, municipal, and industrial uses. The dam also provides hydroelectric power generation, recreation and fish and wildlife habitat.

Dam Benefits

Colorado River water irrigates more than a million acres of land in the U.S., and nearly half a million acres in Mexico. The water helps meet the municipal and industrial needs of over 14 million people. As it passes through Hoover’s turbines, the water generates low-cost hydroelectric power for use in Nevada, Arizona and California. About 4 billion kilowatt-hours of energy, enough for 500,000 homes, are generated annually.

Irrigation & Storage

Water that was once muddy is now sparkling clear in reservoirs and in stretches of the Colorado River. Hoover and other dams on the Colorado have tamed the turbulent flow, creating clean bodies of water that provide recreation for more than 10 million people each year. These waters have also provided habitats for fish and wildlife in areas that were once nearly barren.

Colorado River water stored behind Hoover Dam irrigates some of America’s richest farmlands. Valley and mesa lands in the warm desert climate along the river grow a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and other non-surplus crops throughout the year. Major irrigation projects which benefit from Hoover’s control and regulation of the Colorado River include the Palo Verde Valley, the Colorado River Indian Reservation, the Yuma and Gila projects in Arizona, and the Imperial and Coachella valleys in California.

By regulating the Colorado River, Hoover Dam assures a steady flow of municipal and industrial water to Los Angeles, San Diego and other cities in the Southwest. Phoenix, Arizona was added to the list when the Central Arizona Project began delivering water in 1985. The Tucson area began to receive project water in 1991. Several agriculture users, a number of smaller cities, and an Indian community between Phoenix and Tucson also benefit from the availability of water.

Part of the hydroelectric energy generated at Hoover and Parker dams helps pump water along the Colorado River Aqueduct. The 242-mile-long aqueduct has an annual capacity of 1.212 million acre-feet (1 billion gallons) of water a day. Five pumping stations lift the water 1,617 feet over the mountains between the Colorado River and the coastal plain.

Homes and industries in the Las Vegas metropolitan area receive Colorado River water from Lake Mead through the Robert B. Griffith Water Project, which was completed in 1982.

Hydroelectric Power

Hoover Dam TurbinesHydroelectric power is created as water rushes through turbines that activate generators. When the water has completed its task, it flows on unchanged to serve other needs. The electricity produced is clean, nonpolluting and, unlike many other forms of energy, renewable.

Through the sale of power and water, a major portion of the money used to construct Reclamation projects is returned to the Federal Treasury. Hoover Dam’s approximate $175 million cost was repaid over a 50-year period, with interest. Hoover Dam and power plant revenues from the sale of water and power have repaid approximately $260 million, including interest, to the Federal Treasury, principally from 50-year power contracts that ended May 31, 1987. Several contingencies, including $25 million allocated to flood control, will be repaid with interest over the 30-year contract period which began June 1, 1987.

Water is released from Lake Mead through similar sets of diversion works in both walls of Black Canyon. The water, drawn through the intake towers, flows through pipes called penstocks, to the power plants. The penstocks can also be used to discharge water directly from the reservoir to the river below the dam. The spillways were tested in 1941 and not used again until the record high flows of 1983.

Mythological creature living in the sea, rivers, pools, swamps and underwater caves. Their habitat was especially located near ominous places. These legendary Maori beings are both perceived ashostile beings as well as guardians of individuals or tribes. Taniwha have the ability to shift shape. Once in the water they could appear as sharks, giant squids, or big sea snakes while on land they turned into giant lizzards or even dragons. The creatures were feared by many.

One legend, titled “The Taniwha of Kaipara“, illustrates the deceptive nature of the beast. Three sisters, of which one exceptionally beautiful, were chased by a Taniwha when they were picking berries. Finally Taniwha managed to capture the prettiest sister and took her to his cave. Years later she had given the monster six sons. Three were like their father and the others were human. She learned her human sons to craft weapons and the art of war. One day the sons killed their three brothers and father and they took her mother home. Reed A,W.,`Reed book of Māori mythology`(2004),pp.285-286 Source: Wikipedia

While from nature they were dangerous beasts, when treated with respect by humans Taniwhacould be their guardians. Each tribe had its own Taniwha saving members from drowning, protecting them from approaching war-seeking enemy tribes and, fighting alongside the tribe.

From a more spiritual point of view the Taniwha was considered a connection between the human life on earth and the spiritual world of the gods, ancestors and stars. In this matter the mythological creature functioned as a link between common daily life and ancestral heritage.

Because of the fact that its spiritual meaning is so deeply rooted in Maori culture and society many artworks were created resembling the Taniwha. A historical popular art form were pendant necklaces. Even today New Zealand artists, some of which Maori, create the most stunning Taniwha bone, wood and jade

they display what looks like insensitivity, but actually they are just very focused upon their goals. This is part of a spiritual directive to be detached from objects and the outcome of events. Many of them work for material gain, with the idea that their wealth should be spread among the masses.

22s have the highest soul calling of all of the numbers, as it is the call to transform the world permanently and for the better. Usually 22s are born with all of the tools that they need to accomplish this, including a stable personality, intelligence, courage and charisma. Perhaps the most healing thing for the soul is simply to read out loud the words of ancient texts as these writings resonate very strongly with the noblest aspirations of the higher self.

22 express themselves best through building a better world.

The number 22 is called the Master Builder because they are capable of manifesting great changes on the earthly plane. They usually do this through the construction of some kind of empire, whether it is of a social, financial or religious nature.

22s are masters of manifestation who know how the power of a negative thought or image can destroy potential.

22s fulfil their highest potential by bringing ideals into everyday reality.

Positive Characteristics:
The leader, mastery, power and great accomplishment are keywords associated with the 22 Name.

Negative Characteristics:
Too much of the 22 personality may bring the tendency to be eccentric and unorthodox in their choices. They may be inclined to take on many financial risks with great losses attached, and if they become too focused on material gain or wealth to the point of obsession, this can make them overbearing and often a very dominating person to be around.

Those with the 22 as their Name Number are very proficient and strong leaders and have the potential to do very well and be successful in whatever areas of work or career they choose to undertake, especially if they are inclined towards the world of business. They have the capacity to make decisions and accept great responsibility in seeing large projects through from start to finish.

Those born on the 22nd day of the month are both intuitive and scientific, making them excellent doctors, nurses, carers, counsellors, researchers, designers and architects.

The number 22 person would love to receive as a gift, anything they’ve already circled in the DIY, electronic or sports catalogue  –  22’s know what they want. If unsure, get them a gift voucher or give cash in a funny card.

For men, a new wallet or watch will impress.  For women, handbags and shoes.

Greetings from An Angel 4 Dubai, Columbia South Carolina USA / Home of the 2017 Eclipse of the Moon.. I love this dance. I hope to travel to UAE, Muscat Oman & live in Dubai soon. Thanks for sharing

a victim develops a type of Stockholm Syndrome so the incurable narc feeds off the suffering of the victim. Relationships are impossible so it is a transaction taking place rather than compassion and empathy. Narcs literally make it their life’s mission to drag as many living, loving, empathic souls through the mud seals of hell in order to feel superior. The sooner this is realized by the victim, the better the chances of healing and moving on after these life altering transactions. We are to learn from these encounters but never dwell in the misery of a narcissists world of sadistic, life draining, slow walk into death valley where the soul’s light is diminished into NOTHINGNESS.

anyone else have an overwhelming instinctual feeling to jump through the screen, like Samara in “THE RING”, scoop up the baby & RUN LIKE HELL?

This was just DISTURBING to the highest level. I know its because I have 7 children I feel need protecting from the ENTIRE WORLD filled with wolves in sheeps clothing.

he liturgical reforms of the Second Vatican Council are “irreversible” and ensure that people rather than clerics are at the centre of Catholic worship, Pope Francis has said.

Delivering one of his most detailed reflections on the liturgy at the Vatican this afternoon, the Pope invoked his “magisterial authority” to declare that changes to the Mass over the last 50 years – still hotly disputed by traditionalists – cannot be reversed.

The Pope’s address, given during Italy’s annual National Liturgical Week, pointed out that Pius X (1835-1914) and Pius XII (1876-1958) made their own liturgical reforms while the more dramatic shifts brought about by Vatican II did not “flourish suddenly” but developed over a long period of time.

Francis went onto to describe the liturgy as “popular” rather than “clerical” stressing it is “an action for the people, but also of the people.” Quoting the Second Vatican Council’s document on the liturgy, the Pope said the faithful are not “strangers or silent spectators” during Mass but instead participate with “devotion and full collaboration.”

His remarks will be read as an attempt to draw a line under Catholicism’s liturgy wars which has seen traditionalists and progressives vigorously debate the changes to Catholic worship which took place in the years following Vatican II.

It was the council, which took place between 1962-65, which proposed that priests use vernacular languages instead of Latin, face the congregation and called for the people to actively participate in the Mass.

While there was a near unanimous consensus among bishops to reform the liturgy at the council, in the years afterwards a reaction against the changes developed calling for a “reform of the reform”. This group argue that the post-conciliar changes led to a dumbing down of the liturgy and a stripping away of its sacred elements.

Many critics are Catholics who remain attached to the pre-Vatican II  version of the liturgy who were heartened when Benedict XVI loosened restrictions on celebrating the old rite a decade ago.

Under Francis, they have found a sympathetic ear from the Church’s top liturgy official Cardinal Robert Sarah, who has called for priests to face east while saying Mass and the incorporation of elements of the old rite into the ordinary form.

But the cardinal is at odds with the Pope who issued him with a rare public rebuke while overhauling the Guinean prelate’s department.

In recent months, however, Cardinal Sarah has struck a different tone calling for a “liturgical reconciliation” between old and new rites of the Mass while saying the phrase “reform of the reform” should not be used.

During his address the Pope said the liturgy is “life” and not an idea and transforms people’s way of thinking and behaving. This, Francis explains, is because, the Church is “truly living”, missionary and in its prayer life goes beyond just the Roman rite and includes the eastern Catholic ritual traditions

How Does the Ismaili Imam teach the Esoteric Interpretation (Ta’wil) of the Qur’an?

“You see, my mission is situated on three levels. Firstly, religious: it concerns a symbolic exegesis of the Qur’an: interpreting the Divine Word, the adapting the needs of each community to the time; refashioning the law, constantly and relentlessly. Wherever one finds an Ismaili community, there exists a commission of theologians that engages in this research. But nothing is decided without me…. Our religion is esoteric, you understand. It is a perpetual initiation.”

– Mawlana Hazar Imam (Translation)

Jeune Afrique Interview (1st), Anne Loesch (Paris, France), 15 October 1967

The Ismaili Muslim tradition – today known as the Shia Imami Ismaili Tariqah of Islam – has been well-known through history for its emphasis on the esoteric or batin dimension of Islam. The early Shi’i Imams taught that the Holy Qur’an and the practices of Islam had different levels of meaning – such as the exoteric or zahir whose knowledge is available and visible to all people and the esoteric or batin whose knowledge is available only to specific individuals who possess the insight and understanding to perceive it. The Qur’an uses the word ta’wil when referring to the esoteric (batin) of Qur’an. Ta’wil (esoteric interpretation) is the process of returning to the original spiritual and luminous reality of the Qur’an since the very word “ta’wil” comes from the word awwal, meaning “first” or “origin.” Thus Sayyidna Nasir-i Khusraw says:

“To engage in ta’wil means to bring the word back to its point of origin.”

– Sayyidna Nasir-i Khusraw, (Between Reason and Revelation, 112)

The Qur’an proclaims in 3:7 that “No one knows it’s ta’wil except God and those who are firmly rooted in knowledge (raskhun fi’l-‘ilm).” The hadith of the Prophet Muhammad also notes that Imam ‘Ali’s role is to offer the ta’wil of the revelation (tanzil) brought by the Prophet Muhammad (R. Shah-Kazemi,  Justice and Remembrance, 23). This is why the Ismaili Constitution refers to Imam ‘Ali as “the first Imam to continue the ta’wil and ta’lim of Allah’s Final Message and to guide the murids” (Preamble of the Constituttion of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims, Section B). Accordingly, the Imam Jafar al-Sadiq has said that “We are the firmly rooted in knowledge (raskhun fi’l-‘ilm) and we know it’s ta’wil.” The ultimate source of ta’wil or the esoteric interpretation of the Qur’an is God Himself and He has inspired this special knowledge (‘ilm) in the Imams of the Prophet’s Ahl al-Bayt.

Throughout the history of the Ismaili Muslims, the function of teaching the ta’wil of the Qur’an has been undertaken by the Ismaili Imams. In many cases, the Imams assigned and delegated the task of instructing their followers in the ta’wil of the Qur’an to their highest ranking hujjats(deputy-proofs) and da’is (missionaries). Thus, there are numerous texts and writings by these Ismaili luminaries that teach the esoteric meaning or ta’wil of the Qur’an:

  • The Esoteric Interpretation of the Pillars of Islam (Ta’wil al-Da’a’im al-Islam) and The Foundation of Esoteric Interpretation (Asas al-Ta’wil) by Abu Hanifah al-Nu’man
  • The Book of the Esoteric Interpretation of the Religious Law (Kitab Ta’wil al-Shari’ah) by Abu Hanifah al-Nu’man and the Imam al-Mu’izz
  • The Secrets and Mysteries of the Speaker-Prophets (Sara’ir wa Asrar al-Nutuqa) by Jafar ibn Mansur al-Yaman
  • The Book of the Boast (Kitab al-Iftikhar) by Abu Ya’qub al-Sijistani
  •  The Lectures of al-Mu’ayyad al-Din Shirazi (Majalis al-Mu’ayyadiyyah)
  •  The Face of Religion (Wajh-i Din) of Nasir-i Khusraw

The ta’wil of the Qur’an was historically taught in two forms or mediums – as instruction (ta’lim) from the Ismaili Imams, hujjats and da’is and also as direct spiritual inspiration (ta’yid) from the Imam of the Time. One of the principles of ta’wil is that there are numerous levels of batin and ta’wil appropriate to each person’s spiritual capacity and knowledge, right up to the supreme ta’wil, the batin al-batin ( the esoteric behind the esoteric), possessed only by the Imam himself. In this respect, the Imam Jafar al-Sadiq once said “We can speak about a word in seven ways.” When he was asked about this, “Seven, O son of the Messenger of God?”, the Imam replied: “Yes, [not only seven], but seventy.

In the present day, Mawlana Hazar Imam is the forty-ninth Imam of the Ismaili Muslims. During the Imamat of his predecessor, the formal da’wah ranks of hujjat and da’i were abolished. Thus, the function and role of teaching the esoteric interpretation or ta’wil of the Qur’an is now undertaken by the Imam of the Time directly.

“The Imam must direct Ismailis on the practice of their religion and constantly interpret the Qur’an for them according to our theology. On the spiritual plane, the Imam’s authority is absolute. Ismailis believe therefore that what the Imam says is the only true interpretation possible.”

– Mawlana Hazar Imam,  L’Expansion Interview, Roger Priouret (Paris, France), March 1975

Nevertheless, some people today have difficulty in seeing how the Ismaili Imam’s guidance and teachings contain the esotericinterpretation (ta’wil) of the Qur’an. In the minds of some, the words of the Imam appear too mundane, ordinary or familiar; instead many expect the Imam to use exotic or out of the ordinary language when he expresses the esoteric interpretation. Others expect the Imam to quote specific Qur’anic verses and provide a textual reading of these verses in the manner of modern Qur’an commentators (musafirun). As a result of these expectations, some erroneously conclude that the present Ismaili Imam simply does not engage in the act of esoteric interpretation. Nevertheless, upon closer examination of the Ismaili Imam’s verbal and practical teachings in light of the Ismaili ta’wil expressed in past literature, one may be able to appreciate how the living Imam’s statements do contain the esoteric meaning or ta’wil of the Qur’an.

There are at least six different ways by which the present Imam, Mawlana Hazar Imam, teaches the esoteric interpretation (ta’wil) of the Holy Qur’an to his murids and the world at large.

1. Speeches and Interviews

when the Imam explains how “the Divine Intellect both transcends and inspires the human intellect” 3 and the human spirit must be “guided and supported by the Divine Will” 4 , the Imam is commenting on Qur’an 2:87/42:52 which mention how God bestows His Spirit (ruh) and inspiration (ta’yid) upon human souls; when the Imam speaks about how God is “ineffable and beyond being” 5 and how His “creation is not static but continuous” 6, the Imam is explaining of Ismaili philosophical concepts – such as God transcending being and non-being and God’s Command continuously emanating existence upon all things – in very simplified form without any specialized language.

2. Guidance in Farmans

The Imam’s farmans contain numerous allusions and expressions of the ta’wil of the Qur’an. A frequent but underappreciated example of this is whenever the Imam refers to his murids as “my beloved spiritual children” and bestows his “paternal maternal loving blessings.” The Imam’s reference to his “spiritual children” and himself as the “spiritual mother and father” amounts to an esoteric commentary on Qur’an 33:6 (“The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own souls and his wives are their mothers”) and Qur’an 4:1 (“your Lord who has created you from a Single Soul and then created its Mate”) since the Prophet Muhammad and each succeeding Imam in every age is the Single Soul and spiritual father of the believers and his “wives” or “mate” – according to the ta’wil, this means the spiritual wives not physical wives – are the great hujjats of the Imam and the spiritual mother of the believers.

“The sayings of the Imams have ta’wil (esoteric interpretation), just as the Speech of God and [the sayings of His] Messenger have ta’wil, because they are the witnesses of God over the people.”

– Knowledge and Liberation, tr. Hunzai, 113

3. Ismaili Tariqah Rituals

The Imam has prescribed and authorized a number of Ismaili Tariqahrituals practiced in jamatkhana and each of these rituals is the embodiment of the esoteric interpretation (ta’wil) of a Qur’anic concept or Pillar of Islam 7. For example, the very concept of jamatkhana as the House of the Imam is the esoteric meaning (ta’wil) of the Hajj 8 to Makkah. The Ismaili Muslim prayer, Du’a, is the embodied ta’wil of the Namaz or Salah 9. The du’a karavi ritual, also known as mubay’ah, is the embodied ta’wil of ablutions (wudu’). The ethical and spiritual disciplines that the Imam enjoins on his murids are the esoteric dimension of fasting (sawm) 10. All of this means that the esoteric interpretation (ta’wil) of hajj, salah, wudu’ (ablutions) and sawm (fasting) formerly explained by Ismaili Imams and hujjats in the form of textual and verbal instruction (ta’lim) are today taught by the Imam of the Time to the Jamat in the form of Tariqah rituals and practices.

4. AKDN and the Institute of Ismaili Studies Publications

The Imam of the Time shares esoteric knowledge and teachings through institutional activities. In general, the activities of the Aga Khan Development Network are embodiments and practical demonstrations of the Ethics of Islam. The Imam himself has said that “the ethics of Islam guide all my activity” 11 and these Ethics are further manifested in the institutions the Imam establishes and directs. The Institute of Ismaili Studies is an important institution because its research and publication activities have published numerous translations and editions of Ismaili esoteric literature written by the great Ismaili Imams, hujjats and da’is of the past. Many of the core esoteric Ismaili texts – which were not accessible to even Ismaili murids in prior periods – have become available to all Ismailis and the public at large due to the efforts of the Institute of Ismaili Studies.

5. Architectural Design

In recent years, the Imam of the Time has established architectural landmarks across the world such as the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat, the Aga Khan Museum, and the Ismaili Centres. The architectural design of these buildings symbolizes and embodies the esoteric interpretation of Islam, as the Imam himself has stated: “Buildings can do more than simply house people and programmes. They can also reflect our deepest values; great architecture, like great art, captures esoteric thought in physical form.” 13 The Imam has even written, regarding the Delegation of the Ismaili Imamat, that “the building in a sense should be somewhat mysterious and visually nearly esoteric.”

6. Spiritual Inspiration (ta’yid)

The knowledge of the Imam of the Time is rooted not in physical books or verbal words, but rather, in his luminous soul in the form of spiritual and luminous inspiration called ta’yid or the Holy Spirit. God continuously bestows this spiritual inspiration (ta’yid) or light (nur) 16 upon the Imam’s pure soul, as a result of which the Imam is the possessor of all esoteric knowledge (‘ilm). The Imam also directs and bestows this ta’yid upon the souls of the murids of highest rank – called hujjats in the past. In this respect, the souls of the hujjats can receive the ta’wil from the Imam through spiritual inspiration (ta’yid) instead of verbal instruction (ta’lim). A medieval Ismaili text describes this spiritual connection between the Imam and the hujjat as follows: “A path exists from the hujjat to the Imam, he becomes aware by the divine support (ta’yid) of his heart.” (S. Virani, The Ismailis in the Middle Ages, 74). The Ismaili murids at the spiritual rank of hujjat are taught the ta’wil of the Qur’an by the Imam in the form of ta’yid and subsequently express the Imam’s ta’wil in the form of words as poetry, prose, commentary, instruction (ta’lim) and other forms of discourse appropriate to the spiritual capacities of the people.

For elaboration on some of the above six points, see the source article:  How the Ismaili Imam teaches the Esoteric Interpretation (ta’wil) of the Holy Qur’an ~ Ismaili Gnosis)

Recognizing the esoteric interpretation of the Imam in these six mediums is important for all Ismaili Muslims. This is because the present Imam told his murids to keep in mind that the Ismaili Tariqah is “an esoteric branch of Islam” and that this esoteric meaning “is not there to everyone” but that “it is there to those who are part of our Jamat.” The Imam has further stated that his murids “should be able to explain the esoteric meaning” of parts of the Qur’an and that specific Qur’anic words “must represent to you a concept” (Bombay, November 22, 1967). The Imam of the Time continues to provide the ta’wil of the Qur’an on a ongoing basis so that his murids always have access to the “correct” interpretation, as he once stated in an irshad:

“[W]e are, and will continue to seek out knowledge and understanding, particularly, from the Quran, so that my murids can look forward to the future with interpretation which is correct… and it is important that, as time evolves, we should continue under the guidance of the Imam to seek clarity and understanding from the Quran-e-Shariff. And I want my spiritual children to know that this is an endeavor which is being undertaken on an ongoing basis, and that guidance will be given on a continuing basis”

– Mawlana Hazar Imam (Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania), 17 August 2007

Have you ever noticed how the least conscious extroverts are constantly spewing verbal diarrhea about nothing no one gives a crap about? The least knowledgeable  are always the loudest mouth in the room. I love riding the Comet bus but hate when narcissistic passengers also ride it. Peace is a reality that loud mouth zombies seem to be allergic to. Looks like another flood or comet needs to wash away the fungus amongus…and SOON, before we’re ALL doomed to suffer another extinction of lesser conscious, non-evolving humans. Thats not fair to those who deserve to continue making this planet a more peaceful, safe, healthy, positive, beautiful temporary tourist destination for generations to come. Introverts have smaller carbon footprints compared to the “not-so-simplified”, greedy, materialistic narcissistic extrovert who lives to destroy the lives of others and steal the possessions, dreams, hope, happiness and light within all those around them for personal gain. A narcissists pleasure is YOUR pain.

These insightful vids have helped so many victims. I know they’re helping me see the light so I pass them on to my children in a playlist for future reference. This is one of the deepest. In the movie Kingdom of Heaven, Balian explains his belief in “leaving the world a better place” FOR ALL generations to come. This may be a small way of doing that, but at least we can say we did SOMETHING while others say its hopeless, they can’t do anything to make the lives of the children around the world better, we say “THATS BS! We are awake, know the enemies of the more conscious future offspring and warning them to stay clear of the dying, soulless flesh meat zombies known as narcissists!” A loving, empathic guardian strives to focus on the betterment of those around them, while the narcissist slowly, methodically, sadistically,  purposefully focuses on our innocent children, family, friends around the world ONLY to tear their lives apart, brainwash, drain, exile, persecute, torment, laugh at and sometimes kill those who deserve to have a happy, abundant, peaceful life on this planet we all call home. This “home” is temporary, like booking a vacation to a place with no emergency escape hatches.  We are messengers, not of this world, focus on the change we all seek and implement change. Sleeping Sheeple human beings hate us because we comfort the disturbed & disturb the comfortable. This is the invisible war of energies (knowledge=power, light) VS (lack of knowledge=ego/fear/darkness)  Humans believe we are human beings having a spiritual experience, but in reality we are SPIRITUALLY ENLIGHTENED BEINGS having a human experience. Big difference. Why? Because we know who we are, remember our origins, purpose & access the higher realms where ascended consciousness reveals the BIG UNIVERSAL REALITY, compared to the illusion world of the greedy, negative, unhealthy, intolerant narcissist who’s treasures, focus, is on their own reflection in the water. Faith is like wifi..invisible but is where we find the energy we need to access essentials to win this war in this lifetime. Where are your treasures/focus? We are few, yet we were born  with all that is needed to fulfill our purpose. This is why narcissists hate us. But we were born knowing this. The wake up call is bringing the rise of the lightworkers, wayshowers, messengers who are Archangel Michael’s Order (144,000) I suggest reading verse HEBREWS 13:1-2, (King James Version), Know who you & your enemy really is, then run away from the narcissists in your life in order to gain back the confidence, faith and sanity YOU had for yourself & others BEFORE the plague entered your life. You deserve to be happy, healthy, wise & at peace. Set your boundaries & move on…WAY WAY far away from your slave driving, egotistical, dangerous narcissist. There is no cure. It ONLY, ALWAYS gets alot worse.

LOVE LOVE and its 85% of all the ppl around us (family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, church members, teachers, bosses, counselors, judges, lawyers, military, government & the list goes on)
